About Me!
Associate Music Editor at Paste Magazine
I am a current senior at Barnard College of Columbia University, studying English (Creative Writing concentration in Poetry) and Political Science (Political Theory concentration). I transferred to Barnard last year from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. I live in NYC at present, but I'm originally from Tallahassee, Florida, and as such can personally verify the truth of The Mountain Goats' Tallahassee (the verdict: yeah, John Darnielle was right. Tally kind of sucks). Prior to receiving the Associate Music Editor position at Paste, I had previously worked and/or interned for political campaigns, the Planned Parenthood of FL, Wesleyan University Press, The Village Sun, Observer, and Paste itself. I am also a published poet and an actor (primarily theater-focused), as well as Managing Editor for the Columbia Political Review, as well as a writer and/or editor for five other Columbia publications to boot -- in sum, there is little I am better at than overcommitting myself.
I like having opinions, olive green, original blue bag Sun Chips, music that makes my friends vow to never give me the aux cord at a party, close-reading, people-watching, self-mythologizing, lore-dropping, writing in all lowercase, using a lot of exclamation points in emails so people don't think I'm annoyed with them, hyperrealism in surreal contexts, singers who can't sing, well-written insufferable female characters, absurdist theater, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, metacommentary, any and all punctuation that can be used to extend a sentence, form being an extension of content, taking photos of weird street signs and billboards, the dopamine rush of a cancelled plan, that emoji with the two red exclamation marks, poems that use words incorrectly (i.e. a noun as a verb), weirdos and freaks in general, and unnecessarily long lists. I dislike stickers, word limits, and the passage of time.
Please feel free to pitch me with anything; I'd love to hear whatever you've got to share. Actually, feel free to reach out even if you don't have a pitch! I love talking. Let's talk! (That being said, I am a slow responder by nature, so do not worry if it takes me a minute to get back to you. Sorry in advance!)
